My Personal Statement

Welcome to Blythe's Reflections. This is a space dedicated to sharing my journey and passion for early childhood education. I invite you to explore my background, my insights, and my ongoing reflections on this vital field.

I am choosing to reflect on the driving questions “The impact of technology on education”, and “ How has digital technology impacted us as teachers and our work environment?" I will be focusing on the possible negative aspects on student learning as a result of using digital technology for the process of  reading in the first reflection, and the effect it has had on myself and other educators in the second reflection. This is a choice informed by my personal interest and current studies in this field. I am in my late forties, and have been an early childhood educator for the last ten years. I have three children myself, and have seen the effect that technology has on the learning of even very young children, as well as all other stakeholders in the early childhood sector. These reflections are my own work, a result of my research, and my conclusions are based on data and my own experience.

A Unique Perspective

What sets my reflections apart is the specific lens through which I view early childhood education. My age and the experiences that come with it offer a distinct point of view, allowing for insights that are both fresh and grounded. I strive to share observations and ideas that can offer new ways of thinking about our approach to educating young children.

Inspiring Action: Reducing Tech

After engaging with my personal statement and reflections, my hope is that you feel inspired to consider the role of technology in early childhood. I aim to encourage a thoughtful approach, prompting a conversation about how we can foster deeper connections and richer learning experiences by intentionally reducing our reliance on screens and embracing more hands-on, interactive engagement.
